First time?

We want to thank you for your consideration of being a part of the First Baptist Church Muskogee Family.  We understand that the appearance of this historic building on the corner of 7th and Okmulgee may be very intimidating with its large pillars and humongous entrance.  Our prayer is that the visitors to our church are welcome and feel the love of Christ in the members of First Baptist Muskogee.  Please see the additional information below for some answers to the questions that you may have.  If you don't find the information that you are looking for you can call the church at (918) 682-3496 or go to the contact page and request more information there.

Frequently asked Questions

Q1: How would you describe a typical Sunday worship experience at First Baptist?

A1: Friendly. Authentic. Engaging. You will see smiling faces as you come through the door. After we sing together you will experience a teaching that is creative, and practical to your everyday life. You’ll have a chance to respond at the end, then we’ll dismiss, play some tunes on your way out and you’ll see more smiling faces as you leave.

Q2: Do I need to dress up to attend your church?

A2: Absolutely not! Some people do. Many wear jeans. Come how you are comfortable.

Q3: How long do your services usually last?

A3: We usually run about 60 minutes each week. You won’t seem rushed and we won't drag it out.

Q4: Will my un-churched friends feel comfortable?

A4: We hope so. We do our best to create a welcoming environment where all are accepted and loved. Clear, uncut presentations of God's Word make us all uncomfortable. Whether you are a member or a guest, believer or unbeliever, our goal is life change, not comfort. At the same time, we continually seek to remove any unnecessary stumbling blocks to faith. We are out to include, not exclude - to build bridges rather than walls. We don't beat lost sheep. We lasso them.

Q5: Is there something for my kids?

A5: Absolutely. We love kids and put a great deal of time and energy into creating an environment where they can learn, grow, and connect to Jesus in a real way. On Sundays, that happens through age grade small groups (Bible study) and Kids Worship. The first Sunday of each month, Kids Worship is closed so our families can worship together.

Q6: Is it easy to connect at First Baptist?

A6: Yes. We have many small groups of all kinds. You can try them out until you find one that fits you. Check out the Bible Study page for more info.

Q7: Where do I park?

A7: We have plenty of parking on the east and south sides of the church. Handicapped parking is available on the north side next to the church. (Okmulgee Street and South 7th) Reserved spaces are available for moms with kids close to the church on the south side.

Q8: What door do I come in?

8A: The main entrance for kids is on the south side. (Boston Street) A main entrance for adults is just to the left of the Worship Center. The main doors to the Worship Center are at the top of the big stairway with the pillars. An elevator is located near the handicapped parking on the north side.
